Science and Society conducted an interview with HPW Technical Review Board member Dr. Howard Perko P.E. on December 14th 2006. The subject matter consisted of two things. First, since Dr. Perko has done considerable research on lunar soils, the interview begins with discussions on the soils of the Moon and Mars, and then goes on to discuss the potential manned base on the Moon and Mars. Eventually the interview leads to a discussion of Helical Piers. Dr. Perko informs the listeners about the invention of the screwpile and the evolution of the screwpile into today’s helical pier and its uses.
