GeoDenver 2007 As previously announced, HPW was an exhibitor at Geo-Denver 2007, which took place from February 18-21st. If you are interested to learn what Geo-Denver 2007 was all about, check out their website http://www.asce.org/conferences/tp/geo2007.cfm?data=track&trackid=74. Or, you can read their pre-conference promotional synopsis below.
Geo-Denver 2007 will provide professionals and students in all specialty fields with information about innovative and emerging technologies needed to advance geotechnical engineering and related disciplines. The Congress will involve consulting engineers, general contractors, sub-contractors, owners, as well as educators, researchers and students. The planned Congress schedule includes short courses, workshops, plenary lectures, mini-symposia, panel discussions, and technical sessions in all fields of geotechnical engineering and related geo-professions.
Attendance was as expected and topped out just shy of 1000 attendees. The composition of the attendees, as best as I can interpret from the list that was distributed to the exhibitors, was roughly 30% university professors, 10% students, 15% contractors, and 45% geotechnical engineers. It would be difficult to find a better or more targeted group than this for our industry to exploit the benefits of helical piers.
Traffic was busy at the HPW booth all three days. This was due in part to Editor-in-Chief - Rich Davis’ exquisite planning in picking the booth location across from the hors-d’oeuvres tables. Hundreds of people stopped to tour the website, chat about helical piers, and handle the small models that we had available. As always, Helical Pier World had the best swag. We were told repeatedly that the HPW pocket knife was by far the best give-a-way treat available to those who visited the exhibition floor - and the HPW pocket knife works too! Due in a large part to our strong showing at the conference, daily site traffic at www.helicalpierworld.com spiked upward about 50% in the 7-10 days following the conference.
As The Global Information Source for the Helical Pier Industry, HPW takes pride in being able to represent our industry at important conferences like Geo-Denver 2007. Our mission is to spread the word at many more conferences to increase the overall visibility of helical piers for engineers, contractors and academicians around the globe. Our ability to accomplish this mission is funded by the advertising dollars we receive from advertisers on the HPW website. Let’s work together to make our industry as strong as possible for years and years to come.![]()
